Mission statement : I am an Arctic Polar bear. I will take you on a journey through the SENSE OF SMELL . The world is full of many aromas, some pleasant and some offensive.
My Role : I have a very hyper sensitive nose. I can smell when a seal exhales! This can be good when I am near a pleasant smell, and a problem when there is bad odor in the air. It’s all part of the journey .Who knows what your nose will encounter each day.
Description: I was 1.3 lbs at birth, but will grow to approximately 600 lbs. That’s a huge increase!
Diet: I eat whales, walruses , fish, bearded seals and ring seals.
Habitat: I live in the Arctic . My home is called a den and is constructed of snow.
Population: Estimate total population 20,000 – 25,000
Status : Vulnerable
Fun Facts: Did you know that my fur isn’t white, it’s hallow follicles of hair that reflect light. That is what gives my fur that white appearance.
