Whiskers’ Whale Friend
Every journey needs a guide; be sure an adult is by your side!
Every JAMBO’S JOURNEY activity MUST have an ADULT’s supervision.
What You Will Need:
- ½ gallon plastic milk jug
- silver duct tape
- silver pipe cleaners
- googly eyes
- plastic water bottle cap
- construction paper
- silver fabric
- clear or silver beads or stones
Directions:
Step 1:
Get an adult to help you cut a large V shape into both sides of the bottom end of the jug, removing the bottom of the jug. This will be the whale mouth. Be sure to save the V shapes and the bottom of the jug to be the fins later!
Step 2:
Cover the entire jug with strips of the duct tape so that the entire jug is now the same grey as a whale. Ask an adult to cut small slits into the side of the jug.
Step 3:
Cover the previously cut out Vs in duct tape and silver fabric. Then insert the fins into the slits and ask an adult to use a dab of hot glue to keep them in place.
Step 4:
Use the base of the jug from earlier to cut out another v-shape. This one will be the tail. Cover the tail with silver fabric and insert the end into the jug opening (from which you pour).
Step 5:
Again, ask an adult to use the glue gun to secure the tail from the inside of the jug.
Step 6:
Grab the water bottle top and glue 4-5 silver pipe cleaners to the top. Curl the ends of the pip clears for the spout of your whale and glue it to the top of its head.
Step 7:
Hot glue on the large googly eyes and your whale is ready for a cool dip in the Big Deep with Whiskers!
